Marc began his career in public accounting in 1982, primarily serving family-owned and closely held businesses and organizations. He co-founded Elliott & Painter in 2004 and provides tax planning, business consulting, audit, and other assurance services for professional practices, service-based businesses, and wholesale/distribution companies, as well as nonprofit and local governmental entities.
A licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 1984 (certificate #2179), Marc holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses and South Carolina Life, Health, and Accident Insurance licenses. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (SCACPA).
Marc was born and raised in Spartanburg. He graduated from Wofford College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.
He feels blessed to have the opportunity to serve numerous Upstate-based community nonprofit organizations. He is a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and has a strong passion for Christian-based community outreach organizations such as Miracle Hill Ministries. An instrument-rated commercial pilot, Marc is a member of the Spartanburg Pilot’s Association and serves as a volunteer pilot for Pilots N Paws and Angel Flight Soars.
Marc enjoys playing guitar, reading, skeet shooting, and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Cathy, enjoy taking long cross-country flights throughout the Eastern and Midwest United States.
